Direct to home (DTH) is one of the latest technology that has conquered the world in television viewing. DTH works with the concept of uplink of digital television data to the geo-terrestrial satellite, and the respective satellite downlinks its data on to a specified geographical region. Since the data is transmitted through satellite, no cables or wiring is required. This frees up the hassle of connecting remote areas that are very expensive and almost impossible to connect. At the same time with digital data transmission for television viewing provides digital (high quality) viewing and stereophonic sound.
Nepal with mountains and hills seems to benefit from this technology the most. After the 2046 revolution and the 2063 revolution, we have been talking a lot about the rights of information for all. DTH service provides the rights to information for all through same quality access to television channels from Nepal and around the world. With the introduction of hometv DTH service, we believe that Nepal will enter into a new world where every citizen (urban or remote) has the same access to quality television viewing. Nepal’s total television ownership is estimated to be about 25 lakhs and increasing every year, while less than 8 lakhs have access to cable television and rest are limited to few poor quality television channels. We strongly believe that the introduction of the hometv DTH service will change this landscape and be a milestone in the nation’s history.
Satellite Channel Pvt. Ltd. with hometv as its brand for DTH service was established in 2065 with authorized capital of Rupees One Billion, and received DTH license (1/066-06) from Ministry of Information and Communication.
hometv is promoted by dignified business personnel of Nepal. Hem Raj Dhakal, Devi Bhattachan, Dhan Bahadur Sherchan, Krishna Prasad Acharya and Pramik Sherchan are the promoters of the company.
